About

Alexa Schloh

I love designing and building great spaces for people. In addition to the needs of the client, my process considers context, environment, and community to create thoughtful buildings that will positively interact with their inhabitants. Designing with both creativity and technical proficiency results in high quality, functional, and beautiful buildings. Each new project presents an exciting opportunity to create an environment uniquely suited to its surroundings and the people who will spend time in it. My architectural experience ranges from custom homes to boutique commercial spaces to institutional projects, and I specialize in residential design.

I wanted to be an architect from a young age. My father has an architectural firm in Los Gatos, CA. During my childhood, I spent much time in his office, drawing with illustration markers and tracing drafting templates, and listening and seeing how an architecture firm functions. Some days, my dad would take me on errands with him. Walking down the street together, a client or neighbor would invariably wave him down. They would congratulate him on his latest project in the neighborhood or thank him for designing their wonderful home.

His positive impact on our community made a lasting impression on me and made me want to create beautiful homes: breakfast nooks to linger in, rooms with thoughtfully framed views of the surrounding landscape, and comfortable spaces filled with natural light. I also learned that good projects reflect the clients’ tastes, integrate with their settings, and improve a community. These lessons inspired me to pursue architecture.
