Landscape Architecture by
One of the best and most unusual things about the City of Palo Alto is its willingness to embrace modern design, even in neighborhoods with more traditional houses. This project began as a remodel of an existing mid-1980’s house, and quickly moved into a demo and redesign. The new design orients the common areas towards the large, open yard and pool, and improves the view and layout of the bedrooms. The small, transparent entry acts as a hinge between the main part of the house and the office.
The garden and landscape were important parts of this project, with areas for fruit trees, vegetable beds, and open space for playing. The front yard is planted with screening trees, natives and flowers.
Images shown include early iterations of the design and the final approved design.
